New Web Site Up

Hello everyone. I’m happy about the new look and usability of our totally revamped web site at ADDInsights.com. I’m hoping people will agree that it has greater appeal,  more to offer and is easier to navigate. The whole purpose of a new site to us at ADD Insights is to make it easier and quicker for people searching for help and services to find what they need. We want seekers who come to the site to be able to enjoy their experience, down load some free stuff, and join the programs or classes that appeal to them.  So please have fun as you look around and let us know what you think of the site by e mailing carol@ADDInsghts.com. We welcome any and all feedback, either where we’re doing a good job or where we can make improvements. Best wishes to all of you – I look forward to your responses -

Tuning in to our Intuition

One of the many gifts of ADHD is the ability to sense what is going on underneath the way things appear. I have found this ADHD intuitive ability to work well with both reading people and finding the truth in situations. Perhaps the reason this ability seems well developed in people with ADHD is because it’s needed  to compensate for and survive in the difficult situations in which people with ADHD find themselves. One of the interesting things I have found is that people with ADHD often don’t notice the degree to which they use this ability, or that they use it at all, until examples are pointed out to them. I call it” trust your gut” and “trust your instincts”.  I teach my ADHD clients how to  further harness and trust this ability in conscious ways to make good decisions and better direct their lives. Who else would like to comment on this ability from your own experience or observation?

Calm Abiding

Another benefit of calm abiding with ADHD is the opportunity to examine one’s life. I was thinking today about how I walk around day after day following the same routine. Sure that keep’s me on task and doing what I should, but what about things I don’t notice and could be missing out on? So I wondered what it would take for me to start noticing things beyond my every day field of vision? What could I do to think outside of the box and bring a fresh approach to things that could potentially bring me more satisfaction and happiness? After all, ADHD boredom is not usually the path to freedom and success! I decided to trust myself to meditating on this question,  practice calm abiding, then see what showed up. Indeed something did show up  but before I share that with you guys, I really want  to hear from you on this subject. Please join this discussion. How do you feel about following  established routines vs. trying new things and stretching yourself outside of your normal boundaries?  How can we stay on track with our ADHD and still wander into other interesting territories?

Share your experiences.  Let me know……

Thoughts on being calm vs. being crazed

Let’s face it – it’s easy to get caught up in the noise and frenzied level of activity around us, much of which can be hurtful to us in some way. I believe we pay a price for soaking up the chaos and angst of the world around us. But do we have a choice?

I believe we do have a choice to separate ourselves from the clamor. It’s called calm abiding.

To me, calm abiding is being aware of ourselves and our choices in the moment. When we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings, we can choose the ones that make us feel whole and complete. This allows us to commit the wisdom of our own worthiness and unique value to every decision and action we take. This means we can choose to say no to the thoughts and actions that make us feel inadequate and less than.

I think calm abiding is practicing acceptance of the world, our lives, and ourselves – trusting that the unique contribution of our presence on this planet is enough to celebrate.

Anyone with me here?

Why Healthy Body?

I just wrote an article on “Why Healthy Body,” expanding on my new monthly Desktop Calendar with tips and tools you can use in your daily life.

In the article I compare paying attention to our body with taking care of our car. If we don’t keep our car in shape, it won’t run and it won’t get us where we need to go.  Our bodies work the same way.

The main point I would like to stress is that the degree to which we do or do not take care of our bodies has a large spillover effect in the other domains of our lives.  Our health affects everything from making money, having successful relationships, and performing well at work.

I’d love some feedback on what people think the subject:

  • How important is this topic to you?
  • What’s stopping you from feeling great about the way you take care of your body?
  • If you’re not taking great care of your body, what’s stopping you from eating well and exercising?
  • If you’re good at eating well and getting exercise, what can you share with us that would be helpful?

I look forward to getting your feedback!

1) Volunteer. Make a difference in the lives of others.

2) If you have obligations, enjoy them. It’s your family. They won’t always be around.

3) Set your happiness quotient for at least 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.

4) If it’s not at least an 8, don’t do it.

5) Practice having FUN everyday – no passes!

6) Accept everything that happens over the holidays as divine guidance and listen to the lessons.

Welcome!

This will be my first  post on my new blog.  I am happy to be starting this venture  and seeing what it brings to life.

My master intention for my blog is to help others down the path to the complete enjoyment of a simple, caring and fulfilling life. I believe that when we learn to accept ourselves and others, our bright sides as well as our shadow sides, this light of understanding illuminates our life with peace and harmony.

There are all kinds of ways that we can discover what is getting in the way of our worthy goals. This blog is one way to provide those answers.

I ask everyone to agree to  hold a sacred space for anyone who visits here to share their feelings, thoughts and ideas. There is no good or bad, right or wrong. There is just what is  – and the opportunity to grow, discover and create  together.

Welcome to my blog and may the luminous lotus above remind us of how great beauty can come from humble, murky beginnings.
